What's on your Thanksgiving Menu?

We have many things to be thankful for this year and are very excited to be able to spend it with family and friends. Unfortunately, hubby and I missed out on Thanksgiving that my grandmother held this past weekend which means we missed out on seeing my mom's side of the family. Hopefully we will make the Christmas get together but we will see.

On the bright side, hubby's mom joined us this year. She landed into Birmingham yesterday around 1:00pm and we hit up some shopping which led to a pretty relaxed night. Hubby got up this morning and cooked us both breakfast.. Monte Cristo Sandwiches with strawberry syrup and bacon. It was so yummy. I got an early start on Thanksgiving cooking and again, we headed out shopping.

Anyway, we will have a total of six tomorrow for lunch/dinner which includes some of hubby's work people. I thought I'd share our menu for tomorrow. It is our first official Thanksgiving together as a married couple and first hosting people over so I'm pretty excited.

The appetizers are a combination of hubby and I... Kinda. His mom loves my sausage balls so we make them for her every chance we get. I first made them for her last Christmas. I love the barbeque smoked sausages but we had meatballs so we will use those. My family always as black olives out to snack on before every big occasion. It wouldn't be the same without them. Dill pickles and the carrots/celery for those that don't like black olives... easy, finger food.

I will admit that I'm not a huge Turkey fan... WHAT??? yes, it is true. I don't care for it so we went with a Honey Baked Ham Smoked Turkey.. precooked.. we CHEATED!! Ha! However, I'm a huge Ham fan and could never opt out of buying a ham. It is my favorite.

I'd like to say my specialty is sweet potato casserole and it is my favorite. It is sweet like a dessert. YUM. I think his mom is pretty excited about it too. Hubby would have preferred regular mashed potatoes. Oh well, I win. He introduced corn casserole to my family last year and I loved it so it has become part of our menu. Of course, deviled eggs.. they need no explanation. Squash is a new one. Hubby came home with about 10 fresh yellow squash yesterday so I thought I would boil some of it since we have it.

Lastly, pumpkin pie.. I LOVE PUMPKIN!!! It will be my first time making them homemade so I hope they are good. However, we have a back-up plan if I fail. Ha!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, Y'ALL!!
