Wyatt's Nursery Reveal...

Let me first introduce you to the process/theme of the room. I actually hate the word theme because I didn't want a true theme however you get what I'm talking about. I also didn't want a very "baby" looking room. I'd say the whole room developed around the pictures above the crib. I had an idea of what I wanted which was zoomed in pictures of sports ball. I loved the TEXTURE of the balls. I thought I would never find them and would have to take the picture myself. Etsy came through for me though.

A few key words to describe the nursery came from these pictures... SPORTS and TEXTURE. I was sold and ran with these two ideas for the entire room.

CRIB
Starting with the first corner of the room and maybe the most important item in the room... the crib. Here is where you notice the four pictures above the crib - a football, golf ball, baseball and basketball. I went with a very simple bedding arrangement. I didn't want the extremely theme-y sports bedding or anything. They are all so busy, overdone, and pricey...in my opinion. Gray and pale blue chevron stripes won my heart. My mom and I made the mobile in the corner. Again, I'm not a huge fan of the traditional, music playing, rotating mobiles. Eh, I'm over them. However the corner was plain so my mom and I made these paper mache balls. They add texture.. I love them!

DIAPER STATION
I stumbled upon a picture on Pinterest of someone using pegboard in their son's nursery. I LOVED it and knew I had to do it too. It adds another texture to the room. SOLD! I painted four picture frames and made some art work to go in them.
The red frame reads "B is for Boy"
The green frame says "Ladies love Gentlemen" and has an awesome mustache at the bottom.
The blue frame says "Yesterday's home runs don't win today's games" Babe Ruth
The orange frame is a football field with a football play drawn out with X's and O's
I hung two wire baskets. One has tiny newborn diapers for the diaper station and the other has receiving blankets folded nicely. I ordered the old, vintage baseball glove from ebay. I love it. The letters are metal-like and manly so I had to have them as well. They aren't as expensive as the Anthropologie letters. Hubby brought home the football, mini baseball bat, and hockey puck to finish off the changing station. I added golf balls. Keeping the sport theme going in a simple way. My sister-in-law made the Wyatt sign for my shower hanging on the dresser and I haven't figured out where I want it to go yet, so there it hangs for now. Not pictured but to the right of the diaper pail is a burlap lined, wire laundry basket... MORE TEXTURE!!

READING NOOK
The relaxing corner of the room. The recliner was Hubby's but just didn't have a place in our house so it got moved to baby's room. I think I'm going to enjoy it more than a rocker or glider. Here you can see the bookshelves I painted. It is filled with all our books from family and friends. It might be Hubby's favorite part. He is excited to start reading the Wyatt.. maybe I've been fooled and he really just loves his recliner. I used the same paint colors on the bookshelves, picture frames from the pegboard, and these AWESOME drop-cloth curtains I painted. I LOVE how they turned out. Drop cloth is rough and it added TEXTURE. Woohoo!! Do you get my texture theme?  Again, my sister-in-law made the wreath for the shower and the colors fit perfectly. You can't really see the pictures I hung but one has numbers (1-20) and the other has ABCs. The colors match the bookshelves and curtains. Not pictured is a brown floor lamp that will go behind the recliner. I ordered it today and just couldn't wait to post pictures.

The last picture carries out the color theme in the picture frame and the sport theme in everything else. I found this lamp and knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. I put about 20 used baseballs in the base. It is one of my favorite things. The shade is like a burlap texture.

Lastly, one of my first purchases with the sport pictures above the crib was the shag rug found at the bottom of all the pictures. It is so fun for a kids room and you guessed it, adds texture!!

I spent many, many hours working on his room and I couldn't be more excited to have it completed!! I hit a stand still at one point because everything was a shade of blue or a pale green. I was torn to do everything in these colors or to add colors. Obviously, adding color won out and started with the bookshelves. I am so excited how everything turned out and I couldn't think of anything I would change. I actually stated in the last post that I am thankful for my little guy as I wouldn't have a clue where to start on a little girl nursery. Anyway, thanks for reading and checking out all our hard work. All that is missing is our little guy.
